In-Site-Out and Out-Site-In are two parts of one installation where one extends his senses using media to perceive his surroundings differently. It allows the viewer to get an overview of The Academy Lounge and its surroundings when he participates in the process of walking or moving at different points within this Site Specific installation.
The Academie Lounge is an event location place near Potsdamer Platz in Berlin. It was one of the three buildings in this area to have survived after the WWII becoming in the following decades, a Bank (1911) and later on into a showroom for the company Buderus (1980) which is projected on the window to show via reflection the history of the site in different time periods. The area surrounding Academy Lounge has a lot of buildings of historical importance which are highlighted whereas this space is not well known. The idea is to highlight the importance of this site in context of its surroundings and make people aware of it. Hence, through the door, the visitor walks around the surrounding area and see the historical buildings in their original condition through juxtaposition of present and past images and gets to more connected to the context of his surroundings.
